You play as Jack Williams, a hard-working man taking a weekend off at a family cottage in the woods with his dog. The first-person story follows his change of scenery from everyday life to a secluded retreat where unsettling events begin to intrude.
Walk through homes, a restaurant, and the cottage, interacting with objects and completing simple daily tasks. The game also includes a drive to the woods, restaurant work such as assembling meals, and conversations with other characters.
Progress through a largely linear narrative by exploring and following prompts, with occasional dialogue choices that can affect which of the two endings you reach. The presentation uses a VHS-style visual effect.
Players who enjoyed the game often highlight the isolated cottage atmosphere and VHS-style look, with some saying the setting and sound create a sense of unease. Some also enjoyed a few effective scares, the simple, short story format, or the everyday activities. These reactions are not shared by everyone: many reviewers found the routine sections slow and the horror less effective.

Terrors to Unveil is a series-based psychological horror game that immerses players in disturbing stories, each one unraveling the terrifying stories of those who lived to tell their experiences.
