In October 1970, private detective Carl Faubert travels to a remote settlement near Atamipek Lake to investigate vandalism. A sudden blizzard leaves him stranded in an eerily quiet region, where he must learn what happened to its inhabitants.
Explore cabins, businesses, roads, and wilderness on foot or by vehicle. Search rooms and outdoor sites for documents, objects, and photographic evidence; follow clues and tracks, solve occasional puzzles, and record discoveries in Carl’s journal as the mystery unfolds.
The cold shapes travel through the region: find places to warm up, gather supplies, and manage what you carry. Wolves and other hazards add occasional danger, while narration and details left behind in homes reveal more about the community and its strange events.
Players who enjoy Kona often highlight its lonely, snowbound Quebec setting, atmospheric sound and visuals, and the way clues and belongings in abandoned homes build a picture of the town. The narration and gradual mystery also draw praise. Some reviewers find the slow travel, unclear leads, and backtracking frustrating.
