You play as a mother searching for her missing son in a forest on Norway’s western coast. Her account of the search unfolds through reactive narration, as family memories and Norse folklore become part of the journey.
Travel through forests, caves, settlements, and other dark environments, following a mostly linear route and exploring for notes and other lore. Darkness and sound help shape what you can perceive as you move through the wilderness.
There is little emphasis on combat. When mythic creatures block the way, you may need to hide, evade them, or use a flashlight or torch. The journey is divided into chapters, with optional discoveries for players who explore beyond the main path.
Reviewers often enjoy the eerie atmosphere, Norwegian scenery, and sound design, and several appreciate how the story draws on Norse mythology and folklore. Some also find the family story compelling. Others feel that the experience relies too heavily on walking and collecting notes, with limited interaction and occasional stealth encounters; opinions on the story and voice acting are mixed. Technical problems are also reported by some players.
