Hue is a 2D puzzle-platform adventure in which you play as a boy searching for his missing mother in a gray world. Letters and other messages found along the way reveal more about her and the journey.
The central puzzle mechanic lets you change the background color. Objects that match it blend away, opening paths or removing hazards; you combine this with jumping and moving objects to get through each area.
Collecting color fragments expands the available color wheel, and later areas combine more colors with elements such as lasers and moving platforms. Hidden beakers offer optional collectibles to find as you explore.
In this helpfulness-selected sample, players often enjoy the inventive color-switching puzzles, especially as new colors and hazards create fresh combinations. Reviewers also praise the minimalist, colorful presentation and relaxing soundtrack, with some appreciating the quiet story. Others find the puzzles repetitive or the story too fragmented, and several criticize replaying long sections to collect missed items.
