You play as Reza, an aspiring photojournalist caught up in the Iranian Revolution in late-1970s Tehran. The story follows his efforts to navigate a city under martial law and decide whom to trust and what he stands for.
Move through locations including protest sites, streets, and covert headquarters as the story unfolds through cinematic scenes. Dialogue choices shape Reza’s responses and can lead to different paths.
Along the way, take and process photographs, compare them with archival images, and discover historical material such as videos, photographs, and graffiti. Other sequences involve urban triage and interactive action scenes.
Reviewers who enjoy the game often value its portrayal of a historical moment and a perspective they find uncommon in Western media. They also praise its archival photos, videos, and other contextual material, while some highlight the emotional storytelling, performances, and music.
