DEADBOLT

You play as the Reaper, taking jobs from a mysterious fireplace to quell an uprising of undead gangs. Missions send you into their hideouts to pursue objectives such as eliminating specific targets or gathering information.

Each side-scrolling level is a space to plan an approach: use vents to move around, darkness to stay hidden, and sounds to draw enemies away. You can sneak through quietly or switch to direct combat, but a single hit can end a run.

Use firearms, melee weapons, and other equipment, then earn souls through missions and achievements to unlock gear. New enemies and level mechanics add challenges as you progress; after the campaign, a harder mode and custom maps offer more ways to play.

Players often praise the soundtrack and the way missions reward planning, improvisation, and finding different routes through a level. Many find the demanding one-hit combat satisfying once they learn its systems, and also call out the game's moody presentation. Some players, however, find repeated attempts frustrating, and describe the campaign as short.
