You play Aida Mei, the new manager of Melonchu, a fledgling idol group. After the members fall for her, she must navigate the company’s rule against dating idols while preparing the group for its debut live concert.
The story is a choice-driven visual novel. During conversations, you can encourage the idols’ affection or turn down their advances; choices that raise affection lower the concert’s Live Success Rate, while choices that keep things professional help the group succeed.
The story follows a shared route leading up to the concert, then branches into endings and individual romance routes. Production accountant Reiji can report the idols’ affection levels, and the game includes save and load, skip, auto-play, a backlog, and additional unlockable content.
Many reviewers enjoy the game as a short, lighthearted comedy, especially its dense jokes, over-the-top idol interactions, and unusual premise of trying to lower the idols’ affection. Players also frequently praise the Japanese voice acting and character artwork. Others find the humor awkward or dated, and some wanted a longer story with more substantial romance and choices.
Note: This is the complete version, which adds individual romance routes to the original free game.
Note: The demo is the "Free Complete Version." You can play through to the ending for free.
"Is It Okay to Fall in Love with an Idol?" is a fresh new romantic comedy visual novel.
You become the manager of the new idol group "Melonchu (♡愛恋人♡)".
To succeed in their debut live concert, romance with the active idols is strictly forbidden... But love flags are popping up left and right, and the members start with MAX affection!
How will you overcome this crisis?
It's a chaotic romantic comedy with a "no dating" rule—a first in the otome game genre (perhaps!?)!
The story progresses on a common route until the live concert.
The Dilemma: Choosing options that increase the idols' affection will decrease the Live Success Rate.
