In a cyberpunk tower ruled by the Overseer, you take control of combat-ready assets and fight your way upward through its defenses.
The game is a top-down twin-stick shooter: battle guards, drones, cyborgs, and machines with an arsenal of weapons and cybernetic abilities. Rooms and walls can be destroyed, and some floors include handcrafted combat and puzzle challenges.
Each run offers a choice of randomized assets with different starting traits. Weapons and enhancements can be found during a run, while credits carried between lives can permanently improve character stats; local co-op supports up to four players.
Reviewers who enjoyed Neon Chrome often point to chaotic firefights and destructible environments, along with the sense of getting stronger through persistent upgrades and experimenting with weapons and abilities. Several also praise the soundtrack, and some enjoy playing local co-op. The sample also includes players who found the pace dull or the environments repetitive, and one report of controller problems on Mac.
