You play a novice wizard defending against waves of undead across a campaign of battlefields. The wizard fires spells automatically at intervals, while you place a targeting circle to hit moving enemies; arcing projectiles reward aiming ahead of them.
Enemies drop gold that you spend on a skill tree to improve attacks and survivability, unlock new spells and effects, and recruit holy troops to fight beside you. As you progress, your magic and army gain new ways to damage or hinder the horde.
Each battlefield brings more enemies and culminates in a boss encounter. You must hold out against the advancing horde while a blight effect drains your health, then build up your strength between attempts to push farther through the campaign toward the Necromancer King.
Players who enjoy Legion Breaker often describe it as a relaxing, approachable campaign with a steady stream of upgrades, and like seeing their wizard, army, and battles grow in scale.
