We Love It's Guide to…

Echoscope

Echoscope is an ear-training game. Hear a note, interval, chord, or melody, then echo it back on your MIDI keyboard, your voice, or QWERTY. Structured lessons, blind mode, anchored roots, and long-term stat tracking sharpen your ear one round at a time.

The Developer Says...

HEAR IT. ECHO IT.

Echoscope turns ear training into a tight play loop: the machine plays a signal, you play it back. No sheet music, no theory lectures. Just your ears, an instrument, and a scope that tells you exactly what you got right.

PLAY IT · KEY IT · SING IT

  • MIDI: plug in any class-compliant keyboard (yes, the 25-key mini on your desk works) and echo with real fingers.
  • MIC: no keyboard? Sing or hum the answer. Real-time pitch detection matches you to the nearest octave.
  • QWERTY / mouse: the on-screen piano is always there as a fallback.

TRAIN WHAT MATTERS

  • Singles, intervals, chords, melodies: four signal types with escalating tiers.
  • Lessons: a structured progression with clear pass bars, from unison vs. octave up to full melodic dictation.
  • Free play: dial in exactly the drill you want and grind it.

SHAPE THE DRILL

  • ROOT anchor: let roots drift, hold every round to one fixed note, or lock them to a key.
  • RANGE window: constrain everything to the octaves you can actually sing or reach, then expand as you grow.
  • HIDDEN signal: blind mode replaces the visual signal with a "?". Ears only.

WATCH YOURSELF GET BETTER

Every round is logged. Accuracy by signal type, streaks, session history, per-interval confusion. The stats screen shows you what your ear actually knows, not what you hope it knows.
