After the Holy Grail War ends in the digital realm of SE.RA.PH, Nero holds the throne but faces an uprising and a new threat. You take the role of her Master and fight alongside Servants—heroes drawn from history and legend—as rival forces gather.
Battle across maps divided into sectors, defeating enemy waves, capturing areas, and prioritizing objectives as rival Servants and bosses enter the fight. Playable Servants use combos and special attacks, and can transform into more powerful forms to take on enemies on the ground and in the air.
The action is interspersed with extensive story scenes, told through three heroine-centered routes and additional side stories from other Servants’ perspectives. Progress through the routes, develop bonds with characters, and learn more about the conflict and its cast.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its Fate characters and story, especially the emotional or entertaining moments and chances to spend more time with favorite Servants. Some also enjoy the fast-paced crowd combat, soundtrack, and voice acting. Others find the battles repetitive or the story difficult to follow without prior Fate/Extra knowledge, so the appeal varies with players’ interest in the series and its mix of action and long dialogue scenes.
