After a 1986 nuclear exchange destroys the Soviet Union and the Western Bloc, you play a survivor on a mission in the Soviet wasteland. Explore the ruins, meet other survivors, and investigate a conspiracy threatening what remains of life.
Travel between settlements and wilderness locations, where you can take on quests, search for secrets, trade, and encounter people or dangers along the way. Quests can offer different solutions, and your choices and character build can open distinct ways through conversations and challenges.
Create a character by choosing attributes, skills, and perks, then develop them as you play. Turn-based combat uses action points and weapon options; companions can join your travels. Survival systems include managing hunger, radiation, and toxicity, while crafting lets you combine items into useful supplies.
