You play as a merchant in late-medieval northern Europe, aiming to become the Hanseatic League’s most influential member and be elected Elderman. You begin by trading common goods and build your reputation and wealth over time.
Buy and sell goods between ports, establish trade routes, build production facilities, and hire workers to supply demand. Expand your merchant fleet and compete with rivals through pricing, economic pressure, or sabotage.
As your influence grows, you can found towns and shape their development. Manage challenges including political turmoil, weather, disease, piracy, and royalty; ships can also be protected in sea battles.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its trading and economic-management loop, especially buying and selling goods between ports and expanding a merchant business. Some also enjoy the longer-term challenge of building and adjusting a trading operation; one detailed review highlights cooperative play, where players divide company responsibilities. Opinions are mixed, and several reviews focus on account access or technical problems rather than the gameplay.
