At its heart The Long Reach is an adventure game. Closer inspection also reveals it’s a thrilling horror story, flavoured with sci-fi ideology, psychological context and a skeptical view on the human psyche.

In the fictional New Hampshire town of Baervox, a research experiment goes wrong and nightmares begin to intrude on waking life. You play as a lab worker trying to make sense of the crisis.
Explore research facilities and nearby spaces in a 2D side-scrolling adventure. Talk with characters, search for clues and items, and use your inventory to solve puzzles.
Rather than focusing on combat, the game builds danger through vulnerability: you may need to hide or escape hostile people. Progress comes from exploring, piecing together what happened, and finding ways onward.
In the supplied reviews, players often praise the unsettling atmosphere, detailed pixel art, and intriguing story, especially the way the mystery keeps them curious about what is happening. Some also enjoy the dark humor and compact length. Others find the item puzzles unintuitive or the exploration and dialogue slow, and a few report bugs that interrupt play.
