Dead Cells is a roguelite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle... assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.

You control a failed alchemical experiment that takes over bodies to move, explore, and fight across a seemingly cursed island. Its interconnected levels offer branching paths through changing environments.
Each run blends side-scrolling platforming with fast combat. Use weapons and skills to attack, dodge, roll, and parry enemies while choosing routes and adapting to the threats you encounter.
Death sends you back to the starting dungeon, but some progress carries over. Unlock weapons, abilities, mutations, and routes for future attempts, then learn from each run as you push farther.
Players in these reviews often praise the fluid movement and combat, the range of weapons and build combinations, and the way changing routes keep runs engaging. Many describe the steep difficulty as rewarding when learning enemy patterns and improving across attempts, while some also highlight the pixel art, soundtrack, and Assist Mode. Criticism includes the demanding difficulty, a grind to unlock some gear, and disappointment that updates stopped or the story feels incomplete.
