You play as Chizuru, a young woman who travels to Kyoto during Japan’s Bakumatsu period to find her father. Her search brings her into the world of the Shinsengumi, a samurai group caught up in political upheaval and supernatural mysteries.
This is a text-based visual novel: read scenes and choose how Chizuru responds. Your choices affect relationships and story branches, leading to different character routes and endings. There is no action combat; the focus is on dialogue, narrative decisions, and watching the cast’s stories unfold.
You can pursue a romance with one of 12 characters while learning more about Chizuru’s past and the Shinsengumi’s secrets. Kyoto Winds is the first part of a two-part story, and some character arcs continue in its sequel, Edo Blossoms.
