Video Horror Society is an asymmetric horror game set in a world where monsters from video-store tapes have become real. One player takes the role of a monster, while four teens try to survive by fighting back.
Teens craft single-use or limited-fuel weapons, including flame, shock, curse, and purification weapons. Monsters such as the Werewolf and Doll Master hunt and attack the teens, with different creatures bringing different approaches to the chase.
Matches unfold across cinematic locations such as decrepit hotels and research facilities. Characters progress along individual skill trees with perks and cosmetics, while movie collections offer challenges, lore, and themed cosmetic rewards.
Players who enjoyed the game often described its asymmetric play as distinctive and fun, with one reviewer praising the experience on both sides and its progression system. Some also liked its overall vibe and silly tone. Several reviewers lamented the end of support and low player numbers, while others raised balance concerns.
