Portal 2 is a first-person puzzle game set inside Aperture Science, where you play a test subject navigating the facility’s chambers. Its single-player campaign combines experiments with a story told through characters, dialogue, and the changing environment.
Use a portal device to connect two points and move through space, then combine portals with physics-based elements such as gels, lasers, and light bridges to reach targets and progress through each chamber. New mechanics are introduced as you go.
A separate two-player co-op campaign has its own characters, story, and puzzles built around coordinating portal placement and actions. The game also includes tools for creating custom co-op puzzles, with community-made chambers offering more challenges.
Players often praise the inventive, rewarding portal puzzles and the way new mechanics expand them without making solutions feel arbitrary. Reviews also repeatedly enjoy the witty character dialogue and story, while many describe the separate co-op campaign as a fun reason to solve puzzles with a friend. Some players wish the main experience lasted longer or that puzzles retained their surprise on repeat playthroughs.
