You play as a being created by the Author and sent to Irid Novo, a derelict space colony, to investigate the catastrophe known as the Merge. The station is overrun by hostile creatures, and its story is uncovered through exploration and encounters with characters and scattered lore.

Explore a large, interconnected station with branching routes, shortcuts, hidden passages, and optional areas. Fight with melee weapons, ranged weapons, and abilities, while managing your attributes and adapting to enemies and bosses.

Weapons unlock skills as you use them, and equipment upgrades let you shape different builds. Irid Novo's real-time orbit around a black hole triggers changing events, including enemy and boss encounters. The campaign can be played alone or in online and split-screen co-op.
