Three years after the Purity Wars, the Queen summons disgraced General Aerev home. He is drawn into conflicts threatening the Dwarven realm and a mystery surrounding a Dark Elf cult that harvests souls.
The campaign alternates between exploring maps with a party of heroes, completing quests and fighting smaller encounters, and commanding armies in real-time strategy battles. These battles use a sector-based system that ties control of territory to resource distribution and base building.
Develop heroes by combining skill trees and abilities, and bring companions into the party as the story unfolds. Five factions—Humans, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves and Dark Elves—offer distinct units and mechanics, including flying units and a Dark Elf focus on collecting souls.
Players who enjoyed Soul Harvest often praise its blend of RPG adventuring and RTS battles, its campaign and characters, and the ways hero builds and factions add variety. The soundtrack and fantasy atmosphere also receive praise. Responses to the RTS sections are divided: some enjoy the tactical challenge, while others find the battles frustrating or poorly balanced; some players also criticize lengthy dialogue or technical and co-op friction.
