Noel Cerquetti, a young woman whose life is overturned by a demonic contract, joins forces with the demon Caron and other allies to pursue revenge in the fictional city of Laplace. As they confront powerful enemies, the conflict expands beyond the city.
The story unfolds across seasons, with map exploration and short gameplay segments between narrative scenes. These include battles, stealth, box puzzles, gambling, car sequences, crafting, and strategy simulations; the activities vary from chapter to chapter.
Boss encounters involve choosing between combat stances, managing cooldowns, and using skills to respond to enemy attacks. The Complete Edition includes 13 seasons and the special Season 3.5 episode, which has Noel investigate a hideout through exploration and choices that affect dialogue.
Recurring praise in the supplied reviews focuses on the revenge story, the bonds and development of its ensemble cast, and music that heightens key scenes. Some reviewers also enjoy the varied chapter activities as breaks between story sections, while others find the gameplay light. Criticism often points to the translation in Seasons 8–9 and, for some players, an ending that feels rushed.
The story takes place in the fictional city of Laplace. Noel Cerquetti, a noble young lady from a prestigious family, loses everything as a consequence of a demonic contract she was tricked into. Sharing the same goal of revenge, the two eventually gather more allies and confront powerful enemies.
However, the unprecedented turmoil that began in this small city gradually escalates into a great war.
