Burden of Command™

You play as a captain leading the historical Cottonbalers, a U.S. infantry company in World War II. The campaign follows your command through a series of missions, with responsibility for the soldiers and officers serving under you.

Battles take place on hex-grid maps in turn-based combat. You use officers’ orders to direct squads, move into position, rally shaken troops, and coordinate fire. Suppression, morale, and flanking affect how units perform, while assaults help take enemy positions.

Between and sometimes during battles, narrative scenes present decisions involving your troops, superiors, and civilians. Choices can affect trust, morale, battlefield conditions, and officers’ abilities. You also manage the company’s limited resources, including replacing losses, resting soldiers, and providing training.
