In 22nd-century Warsaw, you play a Gamedec: a private investigator who takes cases involving crimes and schemes in virtual worlds. You move between the physical city and simulations with their own settings and rules, from farm-like environments to noir and fantasy realms.
Investigations center on exploring locations, speaking with witnesses and suspects, and collecting information. You use your Codex to review what you have learned, connect evidence, and make deductions that guide each case.
Dialogue choices and actions shape your character’s aspects, which you can spend to develop professions and unlock additional dialogue options. Your decisions can change how situations unfold and which paths are available; there is no traditional combat.
Players who enjoy Gamedec often point to its unusual premise, distinct virtual worlds, and cyberpunk atmosphere, along with the slower work of questioning characters and piecing together cases. Some appreciate having different dialogue approaches and choices to make, while others feel deductions or decisions have limited impact. Reviews also frequently describe the writing and terminology as dense or confusing, and the text-heavy pace and later story sections are divisive.
