Set in the Granblue Fantasy universe, the game follows Gran and Lyria as they travel between islands and confront threats to their world. Players can take control of a roster of fighters in one-on-one battles.
Combat centers on basic attacks, character skills with cooldowns, and powerful Skybound Arts. Simplified inputs let players perform special moves with shortcuts, while positioning, timing, and reading an opponent shape each duel.
RPG Mode tells a separate voiced story through side-scrolling quests, enemy encounters, and boss fights. Players can upgrade characters and weapons as they progress, and some quests can be played cooperatively.
Reviewers often praise the approachable but tactical fighting system, striking anime-style presentation, and fighters with distinct personalities and playstyles.
