Follow young survivors whose homeland has been attacked by the Palamecian Empire as they join the rebel army. Their journey brings them into contact with allies across a fantasy world.
Explore the overworld, towns, and dungeons, and fight monsters in turn-based battles using weapons, magic, and items. Conversations also teach key terms that can be used with characters to uncover information and advance the story.
Characters do not gain traditional levels or classes: attributes and individual weapon and magic skills improve through actions in battle. The Pixel Remaster adds options such as auto-battle, adjustable growth boosts, and the ability to turn random encounters off, along with a bestiary, art gallery, and music player.
