The single-player campaign follows Miami detective Nick Mendoza through an episodic crime story involving drug cases and corruption. Missions mix firefights with investigations, evidence gathering and encounters with suspects. Players can approach many encounters quietly or with guns blazing. Stealthy takedowns and arrests offer alternatives to lethal force, while a badge can be used to make groups of suspects surrender. Finding evidence and making arrests also tie into experience and equipment unlocks. Online matches pit cops against criminals in modes centered on pursuits, heists and stolen cash.
