You play a small-time burglar working through a county inspired by 1980s America. Story Mode takes you through missions and districts, while Sandbox Mode lets you explore districts more freely.
Before a break-in, scout homes, shops, and other properties to learn about residents and plan an approach. Use tools such as lockpicks, crowbars, and bolt cutters to enter, bypass security, and steal valuables ranging from household goods to VHS tapes and VCRs. Disguises can help you pass as a worker.
Jobs earn cash and reputation, which help you improve your tools and skills and take on more challenging targets. You can also steal or buy cars, drive across the county, and escape police pursuits—or bribe officers to avoid being wanted. The game also includes side jobs, minigames, and properties you can buy and decorate.
Some reviewers enjoy the cycle of scouting properties, timing a break-in, and improvising when a plan goes wrong, along with the chance to unlock better tools and tackle tougher jobs. The retro setting and its old electronics, cars, and music are another recurring draw. Others say the experience is undermined by bugs, awkward systems, or unpredictable NPC behavior, so enthusiasm for the burglary loop is not universal.
