Set in a fantasy adventure, Puzzle Quest 3 casts you as a hero pursuing a storyline through quests and mythical dungeons. Choose from classes including Paladin, Berserker, Shaman, Assassin, Mercenary, Warlock, and Necromancer.
Combat centers on one-on-one battles against monsters. Match gems by moving them horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to charge spells and attacks, while planning turns around the available matches and your opponent.
Quests provide experience and loot for leveling skills and improving weapons and armor. Outside the story, players can challenge others in PvP or join up to three friends for real-time dungeon runs.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its gem-matching battles, especially the ability to make diagonal matches, and like the RPG layer of classes, spells, gear, and quests. Some also appreciate the story and its relaxed, pick-up-and-play feel. Many reviews, however, criticize the monetization and say that progression can become a slow grind.
