We Love It's Guide to…

Digimon World: Next Order

As a Digidestined, you enter a Digital World thrown into chaos by Machinedramon and work to restore order. Explore its areas, take on quests, and encounter Digimon to recruit for your growing town. Raise two Digimon at once by feeding, training, praising or disciplining them, and tending to their daily needs. Their care and stats influence their evolutions, and each partner eventually grows old and is reborn, carrying some progress into the next generation. Battles are partly automated: your partners act on their own while you issue commands and support them. Recruit Digimon to Floatia, gather materials, and upgrade buildings and services as the town expands; training, exploration, and town development all contribute to progression.

Raise two Digimon partners, explore a virus-ravaged Digital World, and recruit residents to rebuild the town of Floatia.

In this helpfulness-selected sample, players who enjoy the game often praise its hands-on Digimon-raising cycle, the anticipation of discovering different evolutions, and the sense of progress from developing Floatia. Fans of the original Digimon World especially appreciate its familiar pet-raising style and returning elements. Others find the repeated training and resource gathering, unclear systems, or partly automated battles frustrating.
