After accidentally breaking the seal on a mysterious book, you must defend your home from yokai drawn to its power. The book lets you control yokai by defeating them and recording their names.
Battles are tower defense: position your units to stop waves of enemies, whose different attack patterns call for different tactics. Defeating enemies earns resources to summon units, strengthen them, and use supporting abilities.
Between and during battles, units can gain upgrades and some can evolve into stronger forms. The game also includes additional modes and events, plus an out-of-battle progression system where cooking ingredients raises characters' affection.
