Demonschool follows Faye, a young demon hunter who arrives at a university on a mysterious island. With a growing group of classmates, she investigates supernatural incidents and confronts a threat tied to the human and demon worlds.
Combat takes place on a grid, where moving into enemies can become an attack and characters can push, pull, or otherwise reposition foes. Plan a sequence of actions, rewind and try alternatives, then execute the turn together; combining characters’ abilities can create damaging combos and exploit elemental weaknesses.
Between battles, explore the island’s locations, talk with residents, take on side quests, and try activities such as karaoke, cooking, or fishing. Choose how to spend your in-game time, build relationships with party members, and unlock skills that can be assigned to characters.
Players who enjoy Demonschool often highlight its rewindable, puzzle-like battles, stylish presentation, soundtrack, and offbeat character humor. Some find the combat satisfying to plan and experiment with, while others say its frequency and repeated encounters make the experience drag. The writing and cast also divide opinions.
