You are a member of Paranormal Property Solutions, sent to help clients clear haunted properties so they can sell them. Each job takes place in a location threatened by ghosts and other supernatural phenomena.
Search rooms with tools such as a magnifier to find cursed belongings, then carry them to a ritual circle and burn them to complete the exorcism. Meanwhile, evade ghost attacks, learn their behavior, manage limited lighting, and contain the spreading miasma.
Choose from characters with distinct abilities, and develop them through levels and skill trees. Equip additional tools for missions, play alone or with others, or take on an endless mode where the challenge escalates as your team progresses.
Players who enjoy Project Unknown often highlight the tension and spooky atmosphere, the chaos of tackling missions with friends, and the different abilities and skill paths for its characters. Some also like that the focus is on finding and exorcising cursed objects rather than identifying the ghost. Other reviewers find the core search-and-burn loop repetitive, and opinions differ on how frightening the game is.
