Choose from a cast of Granblue Fantasy characters and fight in one-on-one 2D matches. The combat offers simplified inputs for special moves alongside options for more manual control, with attacks, combos, and character-specific skills shaping each bout.
Outside versus matches, a story campaign follows an adventure through the skies of Granblue Fantasy and introduces combat through RPG-inspired quests. Arcade and survival modes offer additional solo challenges, while training lets players practice characters and combos.
Online play includes ranked and casual fights in an island lobby, as well as Grand Bruise Legends, a party mode with obstacle courses and survival games. Players can also earn and equip character colors and weapon skins, customize lobby avatars, choose a partner character, and create scenes in the Digital Figure Studio.
Players often praise the easy-to-learn controls, while noting that matches still offer depth to practice and master. Reviews also highlight the character designs, visuals, music, and the enjoyment of fighting with friends or exploring solo modes. Some players criticize ranked matchmaking for pairing opponents of very different skill levels, and reports also raise concerns about balance and a relatively small player pool.
