You play as Ghat, a man cast out by his family who must travel through the strange lands of Zenozoik with his companion Deadra. The story unfolds through encounters and flashbacks as he presses on through a world of unusual people and creatures.
Combat is primarily first-person hand-to-hand fighting. Punch, kick, block, dodge, deflect, grab and throw enemies, with stamina shaping how you approach encounters. Scrap-built melee and ranged weapons also appear along the way.
As the journey continues, you learn additional attacks and face tougher opponents across a sequence of linear levels. An unlockable tower mode offers a separate challenge: survive successive waves of enemies to advance.
Players who enjoy the game often highlight its surreal, grotesque art direction and the strange atmosphere of Zenozoik, describing the world as distinctive and memorable. Many also find the close-range combat satisfying once its moves click, and some are drawn in by the unusual story and setting. Reviews are mixed on the combat’s feel and variety, with some finding it clunky or repetitive, and the short campaign is a recurring drawback for players who wanted more time in the world.
