In 1938, adventurer James Lee Quatermain and agent Jennifer Goodwin pursue the Heart of Atlantis across Egypt, the Arctic, and Guatemala. They race against Nazi and Russian forces as ancient guardians emerge from long-forgotten ruins.
This first-person adventure combines firearm combat with exploration and temple puzzles. Quatermain searches for treasure, studies maps and notebook clues, uses a compass to find nearby loot, and handles a flashlight that can weaken certain enemies.
Players solve environmental mechanisms, navigate traps, and can use some traps against enemies. Collecting treasures also feeds a skill-upgrade system, while the campaign moves through a series of locations and encounters.
Players who enjoy the game often praise its pulp-adventure atmosphere, varied ruin settings, treasure hunting, and mix of puzzles with first-person combat. Some find the puzzles engaging and the old-fashioned adventure tone charming, while others describe the puzzles as unclear or tedious. Gunplay, voice acting, and bugs also draw recurring criticism.
