Set during the Federation’s war against the Arachnids, the single-player campaign follows Mobile Infantry trooper Major Samantha Dietz. The conflict is presented as an in-universe combat simulation, with live-action segments featuring General Johnny Rico.
As a trooper, explore large battlefields, choose the order of many mission objectives, and fight bugs with firearms, explosives, support drops, and allied soldiers. Some missions also let you use a mech, while secrets and multiple difficulty settings offer reasons to revisit levels.
After progressing through the human campaign, take on separate missions as an Assassin Bug. Switch between its combat forms and use bug nests to call allies as you attack human positions.
