Just Another Night Shift is a competitive 1v1 or 2v2 stealth game built around a thief-versus-guard matchup. The thief searches a mansion for a safe code, takes the designated valuable, and tries to get it back to the getaway van; the guard tries to catch them.
Thieves scout entrances and hidden routes, then use their agility and special ability to sneak, hide, and escape. Guards pursue them while completing timed tasks, and can use tools such as cameras, a dog, and a flashlight to help defend the mansion.
Players can buy useful items from role-specific shops, and both characters have distinct strengths and a special ability. Matches are played over a set number of rounds, with players switching sides halfway through. The game includes a modern mansion and an older castle-like mansion.
Players frequently describe the game as funny, tense, and especially enjoyable with friends, with 2v2 matches often singled out for their chaotic chases and teamwork. Reviews also praise the role-based strategy, hidden routes, and distinctive visual style. Criticism commonly focuses on the small map selection and limited new content, alongside bugs and difficulty finding online matches; opinions also differ on which role has the advantage.
