Daniel was just an average guy. He was a great videogame player, a big fan of sci-fi movies, and a novice RPG player. In the midst of an RPG, he was teleported to a castle. At first, Daniel believed that he was having a massive hallucination.

Daniel is an ordinary gamer suddenly transported to a dangerous castle. A mysterious shadow inhabits him and can speak to him, but cannot control him; it has its own reason to want Daniel dead as he tries to uncover what is happening and confront the castle’s master.
Explore the castle room by room, light torches to reveal more of the map, take on quests, find hidden items, and fight enemies and bosses amid traps. Keys earned through the castle’s challenges open routes into new sections.
Level up and spend skill points across weapon types, magic, and defenses to shape Daniel’s build. Equip weapons and armor, use potions and scrolls, and collect magical items and pets. The game also includes difficulty settings, multiple endings, and multiplayer with custom maps.
Players who enjoy UnEpic often point to its varied character builds, castle exploration, secrets, and substantial RPG systems as reasons to keep playing. Its nerdy jokes and pop-culture references delight some reviewers, while others find the writing dated or unfunny. Reviews also describe a challenging adventure with replay value, though some find the controls or later difficulty frustrating.

| Multiplayer | UnEpic supports single-player and online co-op multiplayer. Multiplayer is described as a separate mode from the single-player campaign, with separate progression, distinct maps, co-op dungeon/scenario content, and user-made or workshop maps. Reviews consistently describe multiplayer as cooperative rather than competitive. |
| Multiplayer & mods | The game includes a level editor, and reviews mention workshop maps, player-made maps, and unlocking map-editor content through multiplayer. Modding appears to expand multiplayer via custom dungeons/maps rather than altering core multiplayer rules. |
