The story campaign follows the Fourth Great Ninja War through battles and scenes drawn from Naruto Shippuden. Full Burst adds a chapter featuring Sasuke and Itachi confronting Kabuto, and makes Sage Mode Kabuto playable in versus mode.
Combat includes one-on-one arena fights, battles against groups of enemies, and cinematic boss encounters with quick-time events. Fighters use chakra, jutsu, support characters, awakenings, and a limited substitution gauge to evade attacks and extend combat options.
Between story fights, players can explore areas, interact with residents, and take on side missions. Full Burst also includes 100 additional missions, versus play online or offline, and 38 extra costumes.
