Train Sim World 4 puts you in the driver's seat of steam, diesel, and electric trains on routes based on real rail networks. The Training Center introduces the basics of operating different types of traction before you head out onto the routes.
Drive passenger and freight services, follow timetables, or take on scenarios with varying difficulty. You can operate train controls such as switches and levers while learning the requirements of different locomotives.
Free Roam lets you choose trains and routes, while Scenario Planner and Livery Designer offer ways to customize your sessions and trains. Photo Mode lets you compose and save images, and the Training Center's settings help adjust the learning experience.
Players who enjoy the game often praise the realistic train operation, the range of trains and routes, and the detailed visuals and atmosphere. Some describe driving as relaxing, while others value the freedom to choose trains in Free Roam. Reviews also frequently criticize the cost of additional routes and trains; some report crashes or bugs, and some find the tutorials insufficient.
