Zortch

Zortch Maxinum, a slacker who books a cheap holiday, is captured by aliens who plan to eat human brains. She must fight her way through their planet and escape, with a mysterious voice offering guidance along the way.

This single-player first-person shooter focuses on combat against varied alien enemies and bosses. Zortch can run, jump, kick, and use a nine-gun arsenal; many weapons also have alternate fire modes.

Levels combine firefights with exploration, secrets, and key- and generator-based progression. Players can choose from six difficulty modes and find supplies such as medkits and temporary invisibility powerups.

Players often praise the responsive, fast-moving combat, the varied weapons and enemies, and the levels’ mix of open firefights and exploration. Many also enjoy the retro look and offbeat humor.
