In a fantasy Japan threatened by spirits and monsters, the adventure begins on Onigashima after one of the seals holding back the Kamigui is broken. The journey centers on a young woman and a child of the Oni as a new danger emerges.

Combat is real-time: move around enemies, attack, use skills, and switch between weapons to respond to different foes. Eight NPC companions can join the journey, or players can form parties with other people.

Quests and exploration take you through new areas and encounters. Character growth involves developing skills and equipment, customizing your character, and improving or smithing weapons and other gear.
