FINAL FANTASY XIV Online is a fantasy MMORPG in which you take the role of the Warrior of Light. Its main scenario follows your character through a continuing story told through quests, conversations, and battles across a wide-ranging world.
Combat takes place in dungeons, trials, and raids, where players face groups of enemies and bosses with mechanics to learn. You can team up with other players, and NPC allies can accompany you through main-story dungeons. One character can learn and switch between combat jobs, as well as crafting and gathering professions.
Beyond the main story and combat, you can gather materials, craft equipment and other items, fish, take part in minigames, pursue optional challenges, and decorate a home. These activities offer different ways to develop your character and spend time in the online world.
In this helpfulness-selected sample, players who enjoy the game often point to its long-running story and characters, the range of activities, and the freedom to switch jobs on one character. Some also value the social experience and challenging boss encounters. Reviews differ sharply on the slow, dialogue-heavy early progression, and some say reaching later content takes a substantial time commitment.
The FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Free Trial includes four award-winning titles - FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn the base game, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood and FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers. This edition also includes a 30-day free play period*
