The Thing: Remastered is a faithful restoration of the cult-classic 2002 third-person survival horror shooter game inspired by Universal Pictures’ genre-defining 1982 film, The Thing
Developed by Nightdive Studios, Computer Artworks · Published by Nightdive Studios, Atari

As Captain J.F. Blake, you lead a U.S. Special Forces team sent to investigate the deaths of a scientific crew at an Antarctic research station. The mission unfolds after the events of the 1982 film, as a shape-shifting alien threatens the survivors.
Recruit survivors and manage their weapons, ammunition, health, trust, and fear. Teammates can help in combat, heal you, or use specialist skills to repair equipment, but panic and suspicion can make them harder to control. Blood tests let you check whether someone may be infected.
Explore a series of 20 levels, complete objectives such as restoring power and searching for survivors, and fight alien creatures with firearms, explosives, and fire. Cold conditions make shelter important, and some obstacles can be approached along multiple paths.
Players often praise the Antarctic atmosphere, the film-inspired details, and the tension of relying on teammates they may not be able to trust. Squad management and the infection premise are frequently described as distinctive ideas, while returning players also value revisiting a childhood or cult-classic game in a remastered version. Some reviewers find the mechanics underused and the action or controls dated, so enjoyment often comes with reservations about the game's age and rough edges.
