Block N Load is a team-based first-person shooter built around 5v5 battles. Players choose heroes with different combat, defensive, or support roles and work together to attack the opposing team’s base.
Before the fighting begins, teams build defenses with blocks and gadgets such as turrets, mines, forcefields, and traps. During a match, players can destroy and alter the terrain, digging tunnels or creating routes over obstacles to reach enemy positions.
The game also includes a map editor for creating and sharing arenas, custom games with selectable maps and build times, and a single-player Time Assault mode. In Time Assault, players tackle hero-based courses and compete for their best times on leaderboards.
Players often remember Block N Load fondly for combining shooting with creative construction and destruction: reviews describe digging into enemy territory, setting traps, and adapting tactics with a team. Distinctive characters and the variety of blocks and gadgets also receive praise. Many reviews are retrospective, lamenting the game’s shutdown and loss of access; some also recall long waits for matches when the player population had fallen.
