We Love It's Guide to…

Ryse: Son of Rome

You play as Marius Titus, a Roman soldier whose family is murdered by bandits. He joins the army in Britannia, seeking revenge as he rises through the ranks amid Rome’s conflicts. The linear third-person campaign centers on close-quarters fights: attack, block, parry, or dodge, then finish weakened enemies with timed execution sequences. Successful executions can grant bonuses such as health, experience, damage, or focus. Some sections let Marius direct soldiers in formations, block incoming arrows, and throw spears. Outside the campaign, Colosseum Mode offers cooperative arena battles and challenges; gold and Valor earned there can be used to customize a gladiator with equipment and consumables.

As Roman soldier Marius Titus, pursue revenge through brutal sword fights, timed executions, and battles across the Empire.
