You play as a fallen knight who travels to Harlech Island with the scholar Charlotte L. Wells to investigate the phantom Castle Strangerock. Bound to the island by ancient magic, he seeks the legendary Dragon Slayer while the island’s history emerges through conversations, stone tablets, and old documents.
Explore connected ruins, forests, caverns, and other areas, finding shortcuts, hidden items, locked routes, and ways to revisit places you could not previously reach. Fight monsters in real time, using positioning and weapon-specific abilities, and solve environmental puzzles along the way.
Build your character by assigning stats, equipping weapons and armor, learning weapon skills through use, and choosing spells and Guardian abilities. Find or buy keys—or carve them from monster bones—to open doors as you explore.
Players often praise the interconnected dungeons and rewarding exploration, where shortcuts and discoveries make the world feel cohesive. Reviews also highlight the atmospheric music, steady character and weapon progression, and combat that rewards positioning. Some players find the controls dated or awkward, and mention friction from keys, puzzles, or confusing late-game maps.
