You play as Pinocchio, trapped in a nightmare version of a fairy-tale world and fighting its twisted storybook creatures. Combat is viewed from above and attacks fire automatically, while you move to survive and evade enemy attacks.
Three basic weapon types combine in different orders to create six attack styles, with talents and abilities adding more ways to shape a run. Dream Eggs can be kept active for their effects or consumed to strengthen Pinocchio, making egg choices a central part of building a combat style.
Tarot Dream stages introduce distinct challenges and mechanics, and Tarot cards can shape boss encounters. Completing challenges earns shards and contributes to unlocking a transformed Pinocchio form; between runs, players can improve talents, unlock characters and abilities, and take on Endless Dream Mode.
