You command a robot force across a galaxy-spanning campaign, taking on missions and discovering technologies. Play solo or cooperatively, or test your strategies against skirmish AI and waves of enemies in survival mode.
Build an economy, choose factories, and produce armies from more than 100 units with distinct roles and abilities. Coordinate large forces using formations, queued orders, and unit behaviors such as dodging or retreating; campaign missions introduce challenges and technologies along the way.
The battlefield is shaped by physics and terrain: hills can block fire and visibility, while you can dig, raise ground, and build ramps, bridges, or fortifications. Multiplayer includes 1v1, free-for-all, and team battles, alongside cooperative play.
Many supplied reviews praise the strategic depth and range of unit choices, saying the varied forces and mechanics encourage experimentation. Players also appreciate the detailed army controls and capable unit or opponent AI, while others highlight terrain manipulation, the campaign, and the range of solo and multiplayer modes. Several note that the game can take time to learn.
