You take the role of an incident commander, directing police, firefighters, medical personnel and technical rescue teams. Dispatch their units and vehicles to incidents including traffic accidents, fires, crimes and natural disasters, where acting quickly can be crucial to saving lives.

The campaign presents a series of increasingly challenging missions, including overseas scenarios. This Deluxe release also includes bonus missions that were previously available only in Spanish and German.

Outside the campaign, free-play mode brings changing emergencies to a city, while challenge and endless modes offer additional ways to respond. Multiplayer supports cooperative play for two to four players.

Players often praise the emergency-response management, the variety of missions and the replay value of free play. Many also highlight the mod scene as a reason they return to the game, along with its nostalgic atmosphere. Some reviews criticize its age, controls and technical stability.
